For those of you that follow ‘Spotlight’, you will probably remember Hannah Gingell as Sister Mary Robert in our 2018 production of ‘Sister Act’.
Hannah is now training as a nurse in the Critical Care Unit at the Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge.
During one of her breaks, she went downstairs to play the piano in the main atrium and delivered a heart-warming rendition of ‘Rise Up’ by Andra Day. She is an example of one of many of our Spotlight family involved in the ‘frontline’ during this incredibly difficult period and we would like to thank them all for all their ongoing commitment.
We hope this video will put a smile on your face and spread some positive vibes.
Keep smiling, we’ll get through this together.
Where are they now?
November Blog
October saw two of our ex-Spotlight cast making their debut in professional musicals and we are very proud of them both.
Dominic Sibanda joined the cast of Aladdin following his training at Laine Theatre Arts and can now be seen performing nightly in the ensemble. We also got a sneaky peak of him in action, when the Strictly Come Dancing film crew visited the show with Dr Ranj Singh and Janette Manrara for their Aladdin quickstep week.
We are delighted that Dom’s brother Gifford is also keeping up the family tradition, now in his fourth year with Spotlight; he is currently rehearsing for our next show, Grease the Musical.
The same month saw Akeem Hyman join Motown the Musicals UK and Ireland Tour, as part of the ensemble. Akeem did his training at Performers College.
Closer to home, our Sister Act scenery is now almost complete and ready for its first official outing in December 2018. This has taken us six months to complete and is now available to complement our fantastic set of costumes. We already have bookings for 2019 and will have a selection of photographs available of all the scenery pieces early next month.
Grease rehearsals continue at a pace and we are aiming to run Act 1 in its entirety in December 2018. To give the show its iconic 1950s look, we have invested in a brand-new set of costumes for our cast and, once again, these will be available for hire following our show in April 2019. Grease Lightnin’ has been booked in for its ‘respray’, which will then bring the number of Grease cars available for hire to three.
Tickets for Grease will go on sale to the cast from the first week in December 2018 and will then be on general release from the 2nd January 2019. We are already aware, from numerous enquiries received, that tickets will sell very quickly, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
All tickets are £10 and will be available from our website in January 2019.
