 Location

Playa Blanca
Located to the south of the Island and retains it's charm of a once small fishing village. This peaceful yet popular resort attracts families and couples alike looking for relaxation in the warm year round sunshine. From Playa Blanca's beautiful promenade lined with various bars and restaurants you can see over to the Islands of Fuerteventura and Lobos.  Why not sit and enjoy a meal of locally caught fresh fish while watching the boats and ferries coming in and out of the harbour? For a truly cosmopolitan feel visit the new Rubicon Marina.  Boasting a range of upmarket restaurants and designer boutiques positioned next to a beautiful marina full of luxury yachts and boats.
The Beaches
Within Playa Blanca there are a number of sandy beaches. The White beach in the very centre of the town, from which Playa Blanca gets it's name, has been awarded a European 'blue flag' - a tribute to it's cleanliness. Just 5 minutes drive from Villa Somoha, are 2 more beautiful sandy beaches.
Playa Flamingo
Set in a quiet bay to the west of the town,  it's stretch of white sand and clear blue water makes it safe and suitable for families.

Playa Dorada
Just beyond the promenade to the east of Playa Blanca, is a wide bay with the lovely sandy beach of Playa Dorada. The water is crystal clear and the sand slopes gently downwards. Good swimmers can swim around a small rocky island. There are bars, a restaurant and kiosk, also daybeds and sun umbrellas available. There are toilet facilities and a large car-park. Perfect for a sunny day on the beach.

For those who like to wander a little further, there are the Papagayo beaches - half a dozen beautiful white sandy bays, sheltering between rocky headlands. Building in this area is prohibited, and the intention is to keep the whole area as nature created it. These beaches can now be reached by a rather bumpy but safe road and are approx 10 minutes drive from the Villa. Alternatively,

the Papagayo beaches can be reached by sea taxi - an unusual and pleasant way to get there. The sea taxis take about half an hour and  depart regularly from the harbour.
Places to visit/Leisure activities
Further afield (although nowhere on the Island is very far to get to).  Why not visit the Timanfaya National Park (The Volcanic Fire Mountains) or have a round of golf at Costa Teguise?  For other ideas of places to visit and leisure activities go to: www.spain-lanzarote.com/uk/leisure.sports.html
